Our Grounds

'

'In April 2013 we opened our shelter the 'Chill Zone' Max and James cut a ribbon to open it. One of the things that we do is write on the white board. We write the things we see.' - Matthew and Alasdair

'The Chill Zone name was created by Tara. It was made for bad weather and chilling in. Our pupils enjoy the shelter, in the rain the Chill Zone is full. In winter the bike shelter shields our bikes. The bike shelter gets filled with bikes every day. Sustrans are helping to encourage us to bring our bikes to help the environment. We have monthly competitions about bikes run by the I Bike Crew and JRSO's, they ensure we know about health and safety' - Michael and Finn

'In 2013 two greenhouses were placed behind the Chill Zone and the School Grounds Committee grew plants in these.' - Christian and Arran

'Our compost bin is used for putting fruit skins and so far it is at the breaking point of turning into compost. We started the garden last year to make the playground more appealing.' - Michael and Finn

'The Green Container stores lots of fun things and it has pictures of Strider Walk Once a Week on it' - Joseph and Niall

'The willow structure was built in 2012. A man came to help us build the willow and teach us to tie it together. We learned how to tie knots and make the willow stable for entering. Everyone was able to take part in the building. Four pupils are allowed to go in the dome at a time.' - Alasdair and Charlotte

'The Climbing wall was built in 2013. We can use it at playtime and lunchtime. It is fun to play on. Six people are allowed on it at a time. Mr Clark was trying to inspire us to get more active!' - Joseph and Charlotte

'The Bark area has been at the South of the school for 5 or 6 years. Certain features have been added like a bottle shelter, totem poles and a willow structure. We have benches and tables that we use in summer for our packed lunches. We have a bottle shelter where people can sit.' - Christian and Michael
